See, unlike you Herp, I enjoy games that actually challenge the players, a game for "mature" gamers, that is much more in-depth than 40K. most of the people playing WH40K play it because "IT DONT HURT THEIR RETARD BRAINS". I prefer games that actually have depth

How does it have more depth? Do pilot's learn and gain experience from battles? Do the units use communication equipment between squad members (meaning that unit coherency isn't a distance, but depends on comm skill). Can you fire while running between cover, and at the same time, the opponent firing at you as you run from cover to cover? Do you gain/suffer modifiers depending on where you attacked/were attacked? Does the universe in which the game world takes place have no contradictions and rewrites? Can your commander give orders to a unit to scout ahead, then send the coordinates to another unit who has no line of site, thus giving the unit lacking LoS the ability to fire at the target with indirect fire?

HINT: when WH40K is the subject, all the above questions are answered with "no"

That's not "depth". That just overly complicates the game and makes it annoying and unfun to play.

>> No.2032

Warhammer 40,000 has enough depth to be fun to play, without having so much as to ruin the game for anyone but basement dwellers that devote their whole lives to it.

To a child, yes you are right. But for someone who wants more than "HURR DURR I SHOOT YOU!" it's a breathe of fresh air. Extra options during combat vastly expands what tactics you can use in battle, and makes you reconsider strategies that other wargames encourage. And combat happens quickly, and the complexity isn't complex for those of us that have a triple digit IQ

No, I haven't. I'm content to learn about the back-story and the game itself. I haven't spent much money on it at all.

This is all that I have bought.

well, then buy on ebay before you fall into the pit. and I used to like WH40K before 3rd ed rules came out (there were space marine jetbikes back then)

but certain pieces of army history were re-written, honestly fun rules were removed for "Simplicity", etc.

I reccomend you at least look into Heavy Gear. If you're worried about complexity, then look into the Blitz! rulebook, which can be combined with the RPG SiLCORE rules (which adds advance pilot leveling up/skills/etc). And there's tons of supplement books (both for rules for armies and just book books telling stories of certain events/factions/etc.) And the miniatures are cheap as fuck, high detailed, and awesome. The scale is 1/144 though, the mechs are big, but the infantry are smaller than WH40K
